Madden 26: Top 10 Must-Have Theme Team Surge Cards
This guide covers my top 10 must-have Theme Team Surge cards in Madden 26. These are the players you need to upgrade and add to your squad right now. If you are short on Surge Currency or simply want to speed up the process, you can buy Madden 26 coinsfrom trusted sources to acquire the necessary cards through the auction house and get your team ready for competition immediately.
A Note on the New Reveals
EA only showed four cards in their official reveal: Luke Kuechly, Jerry Rice, Lawrence Taylor, and Vince Wilfork. All four have all team chems. Based on what we know, Jerry Rice is the only must-have of the bunch. He will likely be one of the best receivers in the game that is not a Golden Ticket.
Lawrence Taylor (halfback) needs baked-on Freight Train to be interesting. Without it, skip him. Vince Wilfork could be good depending on his baked-on abilities (if he gets Relentless and Unstoppable Force, we can talk). Luke Kuechly will be significantly overpriced as the event player, so he is not a must-have for me.
Now, let's get into the actual top 10.
Number 10 – Drew Sanders (Linebacker)
This is a sleeper card. Drew Sanders is 6'5" and weighs 233 lbs, which puts him under the weight requirement for top-tier movement. He has 97 speed and a lot of good abilities. Go get this card. You will thank me later.
Number 9 – Rondale Moore (Wide Receiver)
You could honestly pick any of the good 92 wide receivers, but Rondale Moore is the best of them. Jameson Williams, Justin Jefferson, and Darnell Mooney are all studs too. When fully upgraded, you get a 99 speed, 6'3" wide receiver with decent passive abilities. Just a really well-rounded card.
Number 8 – Jihaad Campbell and Harold Carmichael (Tie)
Both of these cards have good things, but also some drawbacks. Campbell is 6'3", 235 lbs, and he gets Avalanche. Carmichael does not get Avalanche (which you probably want on a user), but he does get Universal Coverage. Two solid cards that just miss the top tier.
Number 7 – Any Theme Team Surge Offensive Lineman
This might be a cop-out answer, but the Theme Team Surge O-line is the best offensive line in the entire game. These cards have a ton of zero AP abilities and they all get Vanguard for 3 AP. Anthony Muñoz is a must-upgrade. Any O-lineman from this promo is a solid upgrade. You cannot ask for much more.
Number 6 – Tariq Woolen (Wide Receiver)
We have talked about this card a good bit. Fully upgraded, he has 99 speed and is 6'4". He gets really, really solid animations, which is not something you can always say about these cards. An insanely good wide receiver option.
Number 5 – Drake London (Defensive Back)
Need a new DB? Look no further than Drake London. When fully upgraded, he is 6'4" with 98 stock speed and all team chems. His passive X-factors are not the greatest (I am not even using one on my personal Drake London), but the card is underrated and very, very good.
Number 4 – Jared Allen (Strong Safety)
This might be the most underrated strong safety in the game. I see nobody talking about him. I have been using this card since he dropped. He does not have the greatest passive X-factors, but I quite frankly do not care. The card moves really well. I am shocked more people are not using him. He is cheap purely because people are pulling him left and right, not because he is bad.
Number 3 – Ed "Too Tall" Jones (Defensive End)
Ed Too Tall Jones is a must-have, straight up. That said, Johnny Wilson, Trevor Lawrence, and Frank Crum probably have better ability stacks (they have zero AP passive X-factors – Johnny Wilson has five, the other two have four). Still, Too Tall Jones is a very, very good card.
Number 2 – Kyle Pitts (Tight End)
EA did this card justice. Kyle Pitts has a bunch of abilities and discounts. He is expensive, but definitely worth it. A must-have tight end.
Number 1 – Jerry Rice (Wide Receiver)
I fully expect Jerry Rice to be a must-have card. Depending on his baked-on abilities (which we will know soon), this card is going to be unbelievably good. There is a good chance we are looking at one of the best receivers in the game that is not a Golden Ticket. Number one on the must-have list.
Honorable Mentions (Not on the List)
John Abraham – Good card and free from last week's event, but he already had his own video. Skip him here.
Marshall Faulk and Brian Dawkins – You cannot even get these cards yet. We will talk about them when they are actually available.
Walter Payton – I like the card, but not enough for the top 10.
Vita Vea (RB) – Fun running back, but we have better options.
Harold Carmichael – Cool card with crazy abilities, but he did not make the cut over the others.
Final Thoughts
I recorded this video before the full reveal stream, so we only had four cards to work with. The full Part Two release will have many more players. The timeline works out perfectly – I will be back with regular videos on Monday and a full Part Two breakdown on the main channel Saturday. While you wait for the full release, if you want to get a head start on building your Theme Team Surge roster, head over to MMOEXP and buy cheap Mut 26 coins to stock up on resources for the auction house.
