How to Complete Diallos' Quest in Elden Ring

Jun-21-2025 PST Category: Elden Ring

In Elden Ring, numerous side quests reveal the emotional depth and lore of the Lands Between, and Knight Diallos's story is a prime example. Diallos begins as a seemingly proud noble searching for his loyal servant, but undergoes a deeply personal transformation. His quest spans several locations and ties into both the Volcano Manor and Jarburg storylines. Completing this questline not only deepens your understanding of the game's themes but also rewards you with valuable Elden Ring Items and Elden Ring Runes.

Meeting Diallos at Roundtable Hold

Diallos can first be encountered at the Roundtable Hold. Initially, he talks about searching for his loyal servant, expressing regret and concern. After exhausting his dialogue, he temporarily disappears from the Hold.

Finding Diallos in Liurnia

Next, Diallos can be found to the north and slightly west of the Academy Gate Town Site of Grace in northern Liurnia. He stands atop a sunken building near the edge of the town ruins. To pinpoint his location, look toward the rightmost tip of the Academy Gate Town icon on your map. Be warned: if you complete the Volcano Manor legacy dungeon before meeting Diallos here, he will not appear, and his quest will become inaccessible. This makes it a crucial progression point.

Diallos at Volcano Manor

After meeting him in Liurnia, Diallos returns briefly to the Roundtable Hold. Once you speak with him there, he relocates to the Volcano Manor, having decided to join the recusants. You'll find him in the drawing room. As you complete the Volcano Manor assassination missions, he'll update his dialogue with growing unease about his decisions.

Once you've accepted the second assassination letter from Tanith or defeated Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, Diallos will leave the Manor. If he doesn't leave right away, reload the area and speak with him until his dialogue progresses (notably, he should say something like "my brother was right"). Continue reloading and exhausting his dialogue until he disappears.

Relocation to Jarburg

Even if you skip the assassination missions, Diallos will still appear in Jarburg, provided you progress the Jar-Bairn questline. Jarburg is a peaceful village of Living Jars located in eastern Liurnia, accessible by jumping down ledges from the cliffs above. After progressing Jar-Bairn's dialogue and resting at the local Site of Grace, you'll learn of a new "Potentate" in the village, this is Diallos.

Diallos will be seen in one of the Jarburg shacks, caring for a small jar. He seems to have found a place where he might belong at last. Continue to speak with both him and Jar-Bairn, resting and returning to advance the dialogue further.

The Attack on Jarburg

After exhausting Alexander's dialogue in Radahn's Arena (following General Radahn's defeat), return to Jarburg. You will find it has been attacked. Diallos lies wounded, and Jar-Bairn stands nearby. Speak with them both. Diallos will question whether he succeeded in protecting the jars. You can respond that he did or did not succeed, he dies shortly thereafter, regardless of your answer.

Reloading the area again will trigger more changes. Jar-Bairn will begin scavenging Diallos's remains, reflecting on his legacy. After another reload, Diallos's body vanishes, leaving behind several notable Elden Ring Items: Diallos's Mask, Hoslow's Petal Whip, and a Numen's Rune. These are not just lore-rich collectibles; the Numen's Rune is a high-value item used to gain a significant amount of Elden Ring Runes, making this quest rewarding both narratively and practically.

Final Steps

To fully close out this quest chain, finish Alexander's storyline. Once complete, return to Jarburg one final time to give Jar-Bairn Alexander's Innards. Upon your next visit, you'll find the Companion Jar Talisman at Jar-Bairn's former location, another powerful Elden Ring Item that boosts the potency of thrown pots, ideal for jar-focused builds.

Tips to Avoid Missing Quest Progression

Do not complete the Volcano Manor dungeon before meeting Diallos in Liurnia.

To trigger the poacher attack in Jarburg, rest at the Site of Grace and choose "Pass Time until Nightfall."

If Jarburg hasn't been attacked after Radahn's defeat, fast travel between the Starcourge Radahn Site of Grace and Jarburg to force the event.

Always exhaust all available dialogue and reload the area after key events to trigger progression.

Final Thoughts

Diallos's story is a tragic and touching subplot that highlights Elden Ring's strength in environmental storytelling and character development. By seeing his journey through to the end, you'll not only gain a deeper appreciation of the world but also earn a meaningful set of Elden Ring Runes and Items to aid in your adventures across the Lands Between.
